HRH Prince Moulay Rachid bid a farewell to lifetime royal servant


Rabat, February 22, 2007 – His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid paid his last respects to lifetime Royal and Moroccan servant, Mohamed Aouad.


His Royal Highness, the respectable royal and the King of Hearts, honored the loyalty and love of Mohamed Aouad for Alaouite monarchy and the Kingdom of Morocco.


Mohamed Aouad who served as royal advisor to HM King Hassan II was also at one time minister in charge of the Education of His Royal Highness. Royal advisor Mohamed Aouad accompanied his Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid on several foreign state visits.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid bridges the gap between Africa and the World


Cannes - France, February 14, 2007 - His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the heir to Moroccan throne, arrived today on state visit to France to raise the level of collective commitment to peace and security issues, good governance and economic, social and political development of the African continent.


His Royal Highness will participate in the 24th Franco-African summit that is taking place at Cannes, on the French Mediterranean coast, from 14 to 16 February 2007. The summit theme is "L'Afrique et l'equilibre du monde" - Africa and the World Balance and fixed themes of discussion are how to tap and protect Africa's natural resources, the continent's role in the world and the information age's impact on African society, etc.


It is also expected that His Royal Highness will network with the heads of state and government on the sidelines of the summit to assure the success of the summit and commitment.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid enumerates the winners of Morocco Book Award


Casablanca, February 8, 2007 - His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco has awarded winners of Morocco Book Award of 2006 in the ceremony held on the sidelines of the inauguration of 13th edition of the Casablanca International Book Fair.

His Royal Highness, in the first ever Moroccan’s richest literary award, handed over the prizes offered in several categories, including "literary creation", "literary and artistic studies", and "translation".

His Royal Highness ’ enthusiasm for The Morocco Book Award and more importantly, for the promotion of great Moroccan literature, enhances marketing efforts in bringing these books to the attention of all. On that note, the six leading authors presented to His Royal Highness the sample of their works.

His Royal Highness support depicts the celebration of achievements of Moroccan writers and publishers and will further encourage and reward the upsurge of Casablanca International Book Fair and Morocco Book Award, and ensure that works of merit reach a wider audience outside their country of origin.

His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid inaugurated international book fair


Casablanca, Feb. 8 - His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid inaugurated the 13th edition of the Casablanca international book fair, SIEL, organized 9 through 18 February under the sign: The Moroccan Creation: New Tendencies.

His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid also handed over the Morocco Book Award of 2006 offered in several categories, including "literary creation", "literary and artistic studies", and "translation".

This year's edition of SIEL aims to index and analyse the new tendencies of creation in Morocco, while taking account of the changes that took place in the different fields of daily life. With 600 exhibitors from 59 countries, SIEL is meant to be a place of exchange and discovery in favor of the new generations of creators, the cultural event that wants to promote the works of young writers in front of a large public.

The 2007 edition includes meetings, round tables, shows, conferences, lectures, presentations and book signing ceremonies.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid outlines the value of literacy and literary arts

Casablanca, February 8, 2007 - His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid embarked upon a mission to promote reading, encourage writing, and amplify an awareness of literacy and the literary arts in our multinational society as he inaugurated the 13th edition of the Casablanca International Book Fair.
The popular royal, who is an advocate of youth empowerment, brightly conveys the profundity of this event as a virtue to develop works of the young creators as the event features at least 60 young Moroccan writers.His Royal Highness seized the opportunity to network and to meet with the international publishing community to promote the dialogue between the writers, the publishers and the professionals with the readers. On this occasion, His Royal Highness visited the stand of the French community of Belgium-Wallonia-Brussels, the guest of honor. His Royal Highness also visited the stands of France and Saudi Arabia.
His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid who has been a tireless champion for Morocco, for its part, Minister of Culture Mohamed Achaâri presented to His Royal Highness documents concerning the International Book Fair.
13th edition of Casablanca International Book Fair takes place from 9 to 18 February 2007 under the theme: “The Moroccan Creation: New Tendencies”. Casablanca International Book Fair has developed into a large-scale international book fair with an exhibiting area of 19.000 square meters with publishing units from 59 countries or regions participated.
