HRH Prince Moulay Rachid presents an array of Moroccan coastlines to explore

Rabat, June 13, 2007 – His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the honorary President of the Royal Moroccan Yacht Federation gives head start to the 1st International Yacht Race (M'diq- Rabat) held June 13th to 22nd 2007.

His Royal Highness’ objectives are to raise public awareness of maritime potentialities of the Kingdom, and to promote and encourage sport of yacht sailing and racing throughout the Moroccan coastlines on the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

His Royal Highness underlines the particular need for a comprehensive maritime strategy aimed at developing the thriving maritime economy and the full potential of ocean-sea-based activity in an environmentally sustainable approach with positioned commitment to invest in the maritime future.

Within an unambiguous vision of His Royal Highness, the wide scope of challenges and the multiple potentialities that Moroccan coastlines present for the modern world, Prince Moulay Rachid acts with willpower and in the sustainable way in order to properly conserve and exploit these very main national resource.

This is Morocco’s first and only so far this extraordinarily remarkable international yacht race and with a strong endorsement of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the debut is the most prominent international yacht races in Africa.

The spirit of 1st International Yacht Race perfectly captures the character of Kingdom of Morocco that is a great opportunity to promote and boost Moroccan tourism around the world and gives the confident that the future will bring the aimed results. The race began June 13th and the yachts will be in Tangier for the stopover to support the World Fair 2012 candidature of the city.
