Prince Moulay Rachid marks End of Ramadan

Rabat, October 24, 2006 – His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid marked Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of Fast-Breaking).

Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal, the month, which follows Ramadan in the Islamic calendar. It is a time to give in charity to those in need, and celebrate with family and friends the completion of a month of blessings and joy.

On the day of Eid, His Royal Highness went to mosques where he performed the Eid prayer. This consists of a sermon followed by a short congregational prayer.

Before the day of Eid, during the days of Ramadan, His Royal Highness attended Moroccan mosques and preformed prayers. During his state visit to Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness visited Prophet’s Mosque and performed Umrah (Minor Pilgrimage).

On the occasion of the end of Ramadan, Vatican sent message published by Cardinal Paul Poupard, president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. The message is entitled: "Christians and Muslims: In Confident Dialogue Aimed at Solving Together the Challenges of Our World."
