HRH Prince Moulay Rachid keen on building solid ground for Arab women in golf

Spotlight on the Lalla Meryem Cup – the first internationally known women’s golf tournament in the Arab world

Rabat, Morocco, October 21, 2007 – Thanks to the persistent devotion to advocate golf opportunities for the women, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid is conducting the 14th edition of the Lalla Meryem Cup, international championship as women's division in the men's tournaments, the Hassan 2 Golf Trophy, which will start from October 24th to 28th 2007.

His Royal Highness, an avid golfer, brings decades of experience to his role as the President of the most prestigious golf tournaments in Morocco and ambitions to share the pleasures of golf.
In accordance with His Royal Highness’ strategy for sport, the aim is to increase participation in sport of game amongst girls and women, face challenges in women's golf, as a lack of competition in the Arab world.

To encourage more women to start, stay and succeed at golf, His Royal Highness ensured that Morocco is represented in the Lalla Meryem Cup.

Mounia Amalou, Moroccan national golfer, will fight among twelve professional players, which include six of the European Top 10.
